Now that might be an odd question to ask. But when it comes to your new dinner set you might want to stop and consider what you would like before rushing off and buying a round dinner service.
You see, round is the most common type of dinner plate you will get in a dinner service. The side plates and the bowls will also typically be round.
But while these may be common and available in lots of different finishes, colours and designs, they don’t comprise the whole of the market when it comes to dinner sets. You could also go square if you wanted something truly eye catching.
Square dinner sets certainly do offer something a bit different to look at. You will find them easier to store away in the cupboards as well, since you have no wasted space if you put the side plates and dinner plates or bowls next to each other. You can butt them up quite happily and make the most of all the space you have available. This could be a good bet if you are lacking in space in your kitchen.
But there is something quite stylish about having a square dinner set as well. Because it is not the usual type of service you would see, it immediately draws comments from those you invite round for dinner. It can be a cheap option too because you can often find pure white dinner sets in a square design. Because the shape is unusual you don’t have to opt for an unusual design or colour to make it stand out.
It can also help you when dishing up a meal for your family or your guests. A square plate automatically makes you think differently and you can present a meal in a different way to how you would normally. The same applies with a small snack on a square side plate – how would you use it?
Of course you can also look for a patterned or coloured design if you wish. There are lots of different ways that a square set will enhance your kitchen and your cooking, and as such you should give serious consideration to buying one before you opt for anything else.
In some situations ‘being square’ is regarded as being unfashionable. But not in this case – here square means something very different indeed. Why not consider it in your kitchen?
